Brief History - 'ASHOKA THE GREAT'
Ashoka, popularly known as “Ashoka the Great”, was one of India's greatest Emperors of the Maurya Dynasty, reigning over almost all of the Indian sub-continent from 269 BC to 232 BC. Once a ruthless ruler he later came to embrace Buddhism after witnessing the mass deaths and destructing in the war of Kalinga, a city which no one before him could conquer, which he waged out of a desire for conquest.

Having the favour of God is a benefit, however, having two of the best chefs in the business is the real reason why we deserve the title of “Ashoka the Great”. As most will know our chefs have been there, in the kitchen, since the first day we opened, and so be rest assured that the food that is served there today is just how you have always liked it.
Although our food may date back centuries it doesn't mean that our decor should. We have undergone a drastic transformation to bring to you a contemporary yet warm restaurant to give you the most comfortable, enjoyable and memorable dining experience ever.
